At Civil & Modular Construction (C&MC), we specialize in the design, production, and sales of shipyards, modular dry docks, modular pontoons, pontoons & barges, and HDPE vessels for customers worldwide. Our Engineering department is responsible for converting the initial design from the D&P of the Product Group into a documentation package, based on which ships are built worldwide. This involves both the development of new ship types and the management of standard ship types for various Product Groups.

The Role

Currently we are looking for a mature project manager. In this function you will take the lead on big steel projects such as drydocks and large ponton orders for Civil and Modular Constructions. We expect that you are able to deliver a project on time, within budget and up to our Damen quality standard whilst communicating clearly with your internal and external stakeholders. You are a communicative and organized person, eager to excel in the field of project management whilst thinking outside the box. You have a technical background with a hands-on mentality and thrive in a dynamic environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • You are overall responsible for delivering a project on time, within budget and up to the Damen quality standard. If there are any issues you communicate these in and externally.
  • During the process you report and keep all stakeholders informed and escalate when necessary.
  • To ensure the above you visit the production sites worldwide on a regular basis.
  • Giving functional leadership to members of the project team in order to achieve an effective and efficient way of working in accordance with quality standards, environmental and safety regulations;
  • Providing a technical, financial and process evaluation and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Examine the requirements coming from class/flag states, suppliers and/or clients;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable rules and with physical/data interfaces related to suppliers;
  • Organize and/or participate in project integration reviews;
  • Coordinate reviews on documents, like planning (updates), progress reports, production reports, etc.;

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience of managing projects in the maritime environment
  • Practical experience
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Higher professional education or Bachelor in technical or maritime thinking level
  • Good command of the English and Dutch language (written & verbal).
  • Available for business travel and /or working abroad for a short-medium duration.
