Damen Services provides a broad portfolio of services for the entire life cycle of a ship built by Damen. This includes the handling of warranty calls, delivery of vessels, training crew members, delivery of spare parts, providing maintenance, and execute modifications & repairs.

Damen Services’ mission is to support the sales organization of Damen in selling vessels by providing additional value in the form of services. After the sale of a ship, excellent services are delivered in order to increase the likelihood that a customer will choose Damen again to buy a ship for replacement or expansion.

At the operational level, the Services department maintains contact with clients and is the eyes and ears of the sales organization. Damen Services is a dynamic organization due to its global character. This is reflected in behavior of its employees; together we make it happen, approachable, proactive and always in for the extra step.

Your Role in Our Evolution

As a Category Buyer in the Strategic Supply Chain department, you will serve as the linchpin between our organization and original equipment manufacturers, bridging gaps, aligning strategies, and facilitating seamless information exchange.

Key Accountabilities

This role is a good fit for you if you like to do the following:

  • Develop professional relationships in the marketplace to understand industry changes that may impact the company’s business;
  • Support our teams abroad with commercial propositions;
  • Learn from our teams abroad and deploy their success to other areas;
  • Take a leading role in improvement programs and events aimed at optimizing our global supply chain with Design and Proposal engineers and Account Managers;
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage service contracts and price agreements with strategic suppliers;
  • Responsible for Supplier Onboarding to TradeCloud, our B2B platform for supply chain integration and e-commerce;
  • Initiate market research and enhance supplier development to establish, maintain, and ensure a suitable strategic supply base;

Skills & Experience

  • Preferably possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical or commercial field, enhanced by Nevi course(s);
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing principles, with substantial knowledge and hands-on experience;
  • Strong negotiation skills and assertiveness, complemented by an independent, well-structured, and hands-on approach;
  • Ability to foster connections and exert influence, coupled with a results-oriented mindset, analytical thinking, and effective leadership qualities;
